WoodCreek Development Company Rebuilds Majestic Lake in Crown Oaks

WoodCreek Development Company, a Katy-based firm which has a solid reputation in residential, commercial, and retail development, can now add premium lake reconstruction to its growing list of accomplishments. WoodCreek Development is spearheading the rebuilding of Majestic Lake, a prominent water feature of the nine-year-old Montgomery county community of Crown Oaks.

Design and Construction companies initially involved with the project never sought to permit the lake with Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TECQ) and lake construction principals and practices were sub-standard.

WoodCreek Development Company accepted the challenge of repairing the 40 acre lake in 2007 amid growing concerns from the residents represented by the Crown Oaks Property Owner’s Association. To save the community from further problems created previous companies and to preserve the lake’s legacy, WoodCreek Development Company enlisted some of the areas best and brightest consultants. First they contracted one of Houston’s highest profile engineering firms, specializing in hydrology, to evaluate the lake’s current condition, cure the TECQ permitting issues and re-engineer the project. Then another of the area’s premier construction firms, Lindsey Construction was secured to perform the construction. Additionally, the Montgomery County Engineering Department and County Commissioner (Precinct 1) Craig Doyle were instrumental in the planning and permitting process, as well as facilitating access to the worksite.

The massive undertaking to repair Majestic Lake will require movement of more than 178, 000 cubic yards of dirt, the sum of which equates to 25,000 truckloads, bringing dirt to the site at a rate of approximately one truck every 30 seconds, ten hours a day during a seven day work week.

Completion of the lake is anticipated in November of 2008. WoodCreek Development Company is currently developing two master-planned communities: WoodCreek Reserve in Katy, Texas and Crown Ranch in Magnolia, as well as several commercial developments including an Office Park, a Retail Towne Center, an Industrial park and multiple apartments projects.
